Call for Nominations
Anishinabe Oway-Ishi is accepting nominations for the 2009 Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Achievement Awards.
MAYAA recognizes the achievements of young Aboriginal men and women, ages 16 to 24, who exhibit excellence, dedication, and leadership in their activities. Recipients of the 2009 MAYAA will be honoured at a gala awards dinner at the Victoria Inn the evening of October 29, 2009 (5:30 pm).

***Please note that the nominating body for youth outside the City of Winnipeg shall be responsible for travel and all other costs related to attending the Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Achievement Awards.***
Fourteen awards are available in the following categories:
- Academic Manitoba Hydro's Frank Wesley Jr. Award
(Two scholarships of $1000: Senior and Junior)
- Artistic (Two awards of $1000: Visual Arts and Performing Arts
- Athletic (Two awards of $1000: Senior and Junior)
- Business / Entrepreneurship (One award of $1000)
- Community Involvement /
Volunteerism (Two awards of $1000: Senior and Junior)
- Cultural (Two awards of $1000: Female and Male)
- Employment in a Traditional Field (One award of $1000)
- Personal Achievement (Two awards of $1000: Senior and Junior)
The deadline to receive nominations for the 2009 MAYAA is Friday, October 9, 2009 at 6:00 p.m.
